My Story
Growing up in Buffalo has allowed me to meet a variety people with a variety of personalities and a variety of cultures. It was and is an advantage to understand and further explore the intricate details of people and what may bring them together and build community. I believe that when people are able to create strength within themselves through available resources the community is strong as a result. Also when the community is strong the people are strong. I too have always enjoyed athletics and outdoor activities. It was my middle school P.E. teacher who took notice of my athleticism and persisted to build my confidence which translated to me playing team sports for years to come. She was an inspiration and enabled a productive path in my life that was natural and fitting to me. I am elated to be able to carry on teaching foundational skills as well as helping others find a productive path.
What Brings Me Joy
I enjoy smiling at the little things in life and being in a mindset of peace and taking in the moment. Joy comes from the everyday things that add up and constitutes as the thread that over time weaves into a fabric of my life. This includes throwing a ball with my 10 year old son whose name is Isaiah, absorbing the suns rays onto my skin, (when it is warm out), and taking in the flavors of a delicate snack or a meal. I too have an adventurous side and love to hike and jet ski on the water. I enjoy watching individual growth and growth in the community and being able to be a part of that growth to where it is excellent and sustainable.
What I'm Good At
I would say overall I am a mixed bag. Typically I am good at whatever I put my mind to and have a passion for. This includes being a mom, playing sports, teaching, and cooking healthy foods.
What the World Needs
The world needs love, care, and authenticity. The world needs people to come alongside someone who perhaps is having a time of struggle and engage in a purposeful conversation to understand how they can be encouraged and lifted up in that time. The world needs people who value the children and teaches them that they are valued. The world needs less politics and more humble and honest collaboration.
Why Commons?
John Locke has stated, "There is frequently more to be learned from the unexpected questions of a child than the discourses of men". Commons appreciates the inquiry of children and believes in working together as a team to provide the best outcomes for each student. Commons Charter School has that love, care, and authenticity as mentioned above. Commons provides excellent care and feedback to teachers and students.
